(i'm working on the most horrible set of working drawings...and hate architecture right now...)
through weird instance, boredom, and the need to see something beautiful i rediscovered my collection of carlo mollino poloroids...
Carlo Mollino; avant garde architect, genius furniture designer, obscure photographer, solid race car pilot, aviator, teacher, inventor, eccentric extraordinaire obsessed with perfection, tortured by drugs, sex addiction and focused on creating intense and remarkable pieces of art until the last days of his life. (somehow i see most of my friends ending up here...maybe not the pilot part but the "eccentric extraordinaire", "tortured by drugs....")
After his death, in 1973, a huge collection of erotic photography was discovered in one of his apartments; thousands of polaroids shot during the last 15 years of his life were found, portraying young prostitutes styled and art directed by the man himself, Carlo experimented with rare methods of retouching, color alteration and light sources to achieve some of the most beautiful scenes in erotic photography. These images are a very strong source of reference in the fashion world nowadays, and you can totally see his influence in many of the big shooters around, his sense for decoration, fabric use, composition and love for the female form gave us a marvelous treasure....
